OESC Holds First Of 3 Claims Events In Tulsa

The doors are now open for the first of three days of in-person claims meetings with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

The meetings are designed to help Oklahomans with unemployment and fraud claims.

OESC is only serving people with passes, and those were distributed Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, OESC said they no longer have any passes for any of the next three days.

OESC said they expect to help nearly 2,000 people this week.

Interim Director Shelly Zumwalt said by the time they begin their meetings next week in Ardmore, they will serve nearly 10,000 Oklahomans.

Kenneth Smith rejoiced when receiving confirmation for a meeting.

"If this was Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, I got my golden ticket. That doesn't necessarily mean I'll be approved or not; it means it's a step toward getting the benefits that I feel like all of us Americans deserve," said Smith.

For those with passes, the event will last until 7:00 p.m. and will resume Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
