Oklahoma Red Cross Volunteers Head To Coast For Hurricane Laura Relief

As Hurricane Laura approaches the U.S., volunteers from Oklahoma are heading to the Gulf Coast to help local agencies.

The local Red Cross offices have already sent more than two dozen volunteers to Texas and Louisiana. They expect to send more volunteers to the storm area after the hurricane arrives.

Crews have already been hard at work setting up shelters where people can ride out the storm.

The Red Cross said it’s not too late if you want to help.

“We are always in need of volunteers, especially right now during COVID,” Mary Ann White of the Northwest Oklahoma Red Cross Chapter said. “We have some volunteers and folks that we normally depend on who do not choose to travel during this time.”
