A former Sallisaw Police officer is out on bond Friday night, accused of raping a woman in November.
Billy Oliver turned himself in Friday, was booked into jail and is out on bond.
Court documents said a woman contacted the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office in November, saying she had been raped, but was scared to make a report because her attacker was a police officer.
The affidavit said she agreed to meet Oliver to talk, but instead he knocked her to the ground and strangled her until she passed out. She said each time she came to, he was raping her and laughing.
Last summer, Oliver was investigated for excessive force after he was accused of putting someone in a chokehold. There is body camera video of that incident.
The Sequoyah County Times reports he was fired after that investigation.
News On 6 reached out to the Sallisaw Police department multiple times for comment Friday but haven't heard back yet.
