Make-A-Wish Surprises 4-Year-Old Cancer Survivor With Dream Playhouse: ‘She’s My Little Superhero’

A four-year-old girl who beat cancer will come home to a backyard surprise from Make-A-Wish Oklahoma.

Crews spent the day Monday building Dany’s dream playhouse – and she had no idea what was coming. Members of the Tulsa community heard Dany's story and stepped into help.

A quiet Tulsa neighborhood is full of new sounds, sounds that come with a project that just happens to be a surprise for a four-year-old girl named Dany.

"Dany started showing symptoms of cancer right after her second birthday," said Dany's mom Jazz Bayliss.

She was diagnosed in January of 2018.

"Langerhans cell is a very beatable cancer, but it has a very high rate of reoccurrence," said Bayliss.

Bayliss said her daughter's joy and bravery kept shining through day after day and then in November of 2020, Dany had her last treatment.

"We beat it, finally!" said Jazz. "She was so excited to ring the bell."

Dany spent Monday with her family, while the community came together to build the playhouse of her dreams in her backyard.

"We met her when she was three, she is four now. So, hopefully she remembers us! Either way, she is going to have a playground," said JC with Make-A-Wish.

News On 6 had cameras rolling for the moment Dany gets to see her new surprise for the first time.

"Oh my god, I want to cry!" said Bayliss. "When she was two, she wished for a park in the backyard, now she can come play at the park whenever she wants."

Dany and her three sisters will be able to play, have some food with her family and, thanks to a Tulsa community member, there might even be a special surprise from a princess.

"She just had another MRI done and everything came back clean as a whistle," said Bayliss.

"The fact that we can use the power of make a wish to actually give a child hope, to get them through their treatments or just life in general," said JC.

"She is my little superhero, and she has a cape, and she will be wearing it tonight," said Jazz.
