Miss USA Contestants To Tour Tulsa's Greenwood District Ahead Of Pageant

Tuesday morning Miss USA contestants will tour the historic Greenwood District.

Cindii Cosper is a manager at Black Wall Street T-Shirts and Souvenirs she's packed boxes of posters to hand out to the Miss USA contestants.

"They're going to be representing the USA and this is a huge part of USA history, again that most people may not know, may not have heard of," she said.

Starr Fisher with the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce helped plan the tour.

"They're going to get to find out about the history, the business owners, see where the future of Greenwood lies," Fisher said.

"I want them to be impacted, I want them to be empowered. I want them to feel like not only have they gained historical knowledge that they may or may not have known, but they also have an opportunity to see what the future could look like."

Cosper says the woman will have an opportunity to share the story of Greenwood and Black Wall Street when they go back to their home states.

"They have an opportunity to use their platform to bring much-needed attention to this area so we can continue to build, so we can continue to grow, and we can continue to heal," Cosper said.
