Oklahoma Department of Corrections Director Scott Crowe said Postelle'ss last meal was at 4:50 pm on Wednesday afternoon and that he denied having a spiritual advisor present for the execution. Crowe says the procedure went without complications and he was deemed unconscious by 10:06 am. Officials say he died only fourteen minutes after the first drug was given.
Postelle was convicted of murdering four people on Memorial Day in 2005.
According to police reports, Postelle shot more than 30 rounds from an AK-47 rifle at Amy Wright, James Swindle, James Alderson, and Terry Smith on Memorial Day in 2005.
Postelle faced two counts of the death sentence and two counts of life in prison without parole. He was denied clemency 4-1 in November, with one member saying he still has reservations about the injection method.
Crowe said the procedure went smoothly.
“I believe the last executions were smooth and so was this one this inmate was without comment and very cooperative no complications," said Crowe.
