The Kitchen 66 food entrepreneurship program at Mother Road Market has helped over 100 businesses get a start.
Kitchen 66 provides participants with the opportunity to build a successful food business by helping them with networking, business planning and giving them a space to be creative in the kitchen.
Johnny Butler is a new participant of Kitchen 66, and he spoke to News On 6 about his experience.
He said he started cooking when he was 16 and chose to pursue his passion by going to culinary school two years later.
Butler has worked many different jobs in the food industry but said he is excited to become an independent business owner.
His business is called Johnny Sunday's, where he plans on creating affordable Italian dishes.
Butler said meeting successful restaurant owners in the Tulsa community and working with other participants are the best parts of the program.
"You know almost everyone by name. They're more than welcome to help you with anything, the people in the program are more than willing to help you. So being able to get resources that you don't get everyday like the marketing and the costing and the aspects that they provide is really important," Butler said.
Butler and other Kitchen 66 members will have the opportunity to work in the pop-up kitchen at the end of the program.
