Family, Friends Grieving After Mother, Father, 2 Children Killed In House Fire Near Stroud

Family and friends are remembering the lives of a husband, wife and their two small kids after they were killed in a house fire early Friday morning.

The family of four lived on another family member’s property in Milfay, which is near Stroud.

The family of Dakota Murray said he was building the home with his wife, McKenna, and their two kids when it caught fire.

All four of the family members ended up dying as a result of the fire.

Landan Meadows, a friend of Dakota for many years, said he was in shock when he heard the news.

Landon said he and Dakota were like brothers and he cared so much about his family and friends.

“Very caring and affectionate person,” said Meadows. “Revolved himself around his family, friends. The house that he was building was for his kids and his wife.”

Volunteer firefighters from Milfay and Stroud responded to the fire around 2 a.m. on Friday morning.

Three of the victims died at the scene and another passed after being taken to an Oklahoma City hospital, according to the Stroud Volunteer Fire Department.

The ATF confirmed to News On 6 it has taken over the investigation since at least one of the victims is tribal. The cause of the fire has not been released.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for the victims’ funeral expenses. Other fundraisers have also been set up through friends.
