A one-of-a-kind farmers market is happening Saturday, May 6, in West Tulsa.
Tucked away near Charles Page and 33rd West Avenue is Wompa, a former industrial complex turned co-working space for artists and entrepreneurs.
"It's the West O Main Producers Association, historically the neighborhood was West O Main prior to it being Charles Page officially," said Bobby Dean Orcutt.
Orcutt runs his print shop Low Road Merch from here. It didn't take long for him to realize this part of Tulsa is in dire need of better food options.
"I would prefer to go to a grocery store or a restaurant that isn't fast food, unfortunately that isn't an option in this area," said Orcutt.
That's why he and his partner Morgan Bible came up with the idea for a farmer's market at Wompa.
"There's gonna be snow cones, there's gonna be food trucks, there's gonna be live music from 10 till 4 throughout the event," Orcutt said.
Orcutt said the decision to include Oasis Fresh Market really makes the event something special.
"It means that not only are we able to bring in really cool vintage vendors and handmade crafts, all that kind of stuff, but a real grocery store presence, which has been lacking in this area for a long time," said Orcutt.
Oasis Store Manager Sherri Daniels knows how important access to fresh food is.
"We got a whole bunch of goodies fresh fruit that maybe not a lot of people have access to," said Daniels.
She and Orcutt both think events like this can be a springboard for bringing things to the area that every neighborhood should have.
"We're gonna be big, working with Wompa we're gonna blow up, okay, Oasis and Wompa are gonna blow up," said Daniels.
