Garden Of Lights Event Kicks Off At Tulsa Botanic Garden; Next Phase Announced

The Tulsa Botanic Garden is shining bright as it kicks off its Garden of Lights.

Visitors can stroll the wide garden paths to see the hundreds of thousands of lights. There are plenty of photo opportunities and you can even get a s'mores kit to cook over available fire pits.

"Wide garden paths offer visitors a chance to stroll through whimsical features in the Children’s Discovery like “Ice Giants” tending the Garden. The A.R. and Marylouise Tandy Floral Terraces offers elegant views as visitors wind through twinkling light curtains, Art Deco lanterns, and colorfully illuminated trees with the sounds of holiday music adding a festive feel. Added to this year’s display will be the two newest gardens: the Stanford Family Liberty Garden and the Bumgarner Family Foundation Lotus Pool which both opened in late July. The Liberty Garden will feature Santa’s sleigh photo opportunity and Santa will visit each Friday and Saturday, Nov. 24-Dec. 9, from 5-8 p.m. and nightly Dec. 15-23." - Tulsa Botanic Garden

The Garden also announced its newest project, the Jim and Cherry Bost Arboretum Tuesday night. The new arboretum will cover two acres and will have a mix of more than 100 trees with an entry donor plaza and a water curtain fountain.

"Plantings in the Arboretum have been designed to provide year-round dramatic seasonal color and inviting habitat for birds. Native trees as well as trees from other countries with similar ecologies will be displayed including oak, ginkgo, redbud, willow, sassafras and dogwood. Understory shrubs will include witch hazel, hydrangeas, azaleas, and beautyberry. Along the hillside leading to the pavilion 30,000 daffodils will be planted for early spring blooms." - Tulsa Botanic Garden

Construction starts in January and is expected to be completed in the fall of next year.
