One person is dead after a structure fire in Broken Arrow on Monday, Broken Arrow Fire Department confirmed.
At 3:11 p.m. Broken Arrow Fire Department Dispatch received a call for a structure fire with a possible victim trapped near 51st Street and 241st East Avenue in Broken Arrow.
This is a residential property. The involved structure was a detached 25x60 shop building that was used as an office building for a wheelchair transport business.
Broken Arrow Fire Department arrived on the scene at 3:16 p.m. to heavy smoke and flames and initiated a fire attack. Then another Tulsa Fire Department unit responded shortly after.
Oak Grove Fire Department responded with an engine, two tankers, a brush truck, and a chief car.
Oak Grove Fire requested tankers from Catoosa Professional Fire Fighters Local-4798, Verdigris Fire District, and Rolling Hills Fire Protection District #1 due to no hydrants being in the area.
During firefighting operations, a deceased adult male was discovered in the building, and one Broken Arrow Firefighter was treated and released for a non-critical injury, firefighters said.
The fire was brought under control at 3:42 p.m.
The cause is currently under investigation by the state Fire Marshals office, but they said it is not suspicious.
